Orphans

Right now I'm in the middle of reading Love Walked In by Marisa De Los Santos, and aww, such an adorable story so far. It's eerie how similar I was to to Clare at that age. I love that kid. We both love to make lists and like Clare, I also just realized that like her, most of my favorite characters are orphans.

Favorite Fictional Orphans (No Order):
1. Anne of Green Gables (Anne Shirley)- one of my favorite books.

Who's going to pick me up?
 2. Samantha Parkington- (American Girl) stays with her rich grandmother, Grandmary, and grows up in the 1900s. I believe she also befriends another orphan, Nellie.

Pleasure to meet you too.
 3. Sara Crewe- Her father goes off to war and dies. She comes from India and tells stories when Miss Minchin makes her live in the attic. Also, her doll comes to life.

Do you want to see my doll!?

4. Mary Lennox- The Girl from the Secret Garden. She gets shipped of to live with  other family members when her parents die in a fire. She's incredibly spoiled and befriends a dying boy. They build a secret garden together.

I love my beautiful hat!

5. Peter Pan- One of my favorites. Flies off to Never Never Land and stays a young boy forever.

See that Wendy? Never Never Land is the 2nd
star to the right and straight on 'till morning!
6. The Boxcar Children- Their parents die, and to escape their scary Grandfather, the four siblings live in a boxcar in the woods, taking care of themselves by finding food and items in the woods.

Don't worry Billy! We'll be safe from Grandfather
inside here in this old boxcar!

7. The Cullens- All the Cullen's biological parents died eventually. Edward's of the Spanish influenza. Alice's probably died after they 'buried' their own daughter and sent her to an asylum. Jasper's sometime around the Civil War. Emmet (who reminds me of Chris McCandleless by the way-- chasing around bears in the woods) presumably sometime after he was changed, and Rosalie's sometime after the Great Depression/WWII. Rosalie most likely didn't take the news well.

I love this picture so much! It gives me chills
how much they look like their characters.

8. Pollyanna- Goes to live with her mean Aunt Polly and changes the whole town into positivity, making it Glad Town.

I wonder what glad games this town likes to play?
9. Annie- Maybe one of the most famous orphans. Lives in an orphanage during the country's Great Depression with a cruel lady, Ms. Hannigan, but eventually gets adopted by Mr. Warbucks, the billionaire. Also has a cute dog named Sandy and likes to sing. The sun will come out tommorowww!

I'm poor as a mouse!; I'm richer than Midas!

10. The Blaundiares- Have you read their life stories? It's a series after series of unfortunate events. Poor orphans tormented by their uncle Count Olaf who is after their fortune. He tries to marry Violet and has multiple murder plots to get rid of them Fortunately, none of them have worked, but they have kept the Blaundiares on the run. Who knows where they're off to now.

Don't worry Sunny, maybe in
the next book.
11. Harry Potter- C'MON! Who wouldn't want to got to Hogwarts and be a WIZARD! And be famous in some other land. Probably one of the luckiest orphans out there.

I play Quidditch too!
12. Pippi Longstockings- The fun little girl who goes on adventures and wears her hair in braids.

Hi there! Want some coins?
 13. Huckaberry Finn and Tom Sawyer- Friend of Tom Sawyer who have adventures down the Mississippi River.

Look at this Tom!

14. Madeline- Who wouldn't want to live in a house of vines in Paris?

Miss Calvelle, can we please see the
tiger in the zoo!?!!
