Orphans

Right now I'm in the middle of reading Love Walked In by Marisa De Los Santos, and aww, such an adorable story so far. It's eerie how similar I was to to Clare at that age. I love that kid. We both love to make lists and like Clare, I also just realized that like her, most of my favorite characters are orphans.

Favorite Fictional Orphans (No Order):
1. Anne of Green Gables (Anne Shirley)- one of my favorite books.

Who's going to pick me up?
 2. Samantha Parkington- (American Girl) stays with her rich grandmother, Grandmary, and grows up in the 1900s. I believe she also befriends another orphan, Nellie.

Pleasure to meet you too.
 3. Sara Crewe- Her father goes off to war and dies. She comes from India and tells stories when Miss Minchin makes her live in the attic. Also, her doll comes to life.

Do you want to see my doll!?

4. Mary Lennox- The Girl from the Secret Garden. She gets shipped of to live with  other family members when her parents die in a fire. She's incredibly spoiled and befriends a dying boy. They build a secret garden together.

I love my beautiful hat!

5. Peter Pan- One of my favorites. Flies off to Never Never Land and stays a young boy forever.

See that Wendy? Never Never Land is the 2nd
star to the right and straight on 'till morning!
6. The Boxcar Children- Their parents die, and to escape their scary Grandfather, the four siblings live in a boxcar in the woods, taking care of themselves by finding food and items in the woods.

Don't worry Billy! We'll be safe from Grandfather
inside here in this old boxcar!

7. The Cullens- All the Cullen's biological parents died eventually. Edward's of the Spanish influenza. Alice's probably died after they 'buried' their own daughter and sent her to an asylum. Jasper's sometime around the Civil War. Emmet (who reminds me of Chris McCandleless by the way-- chasing around bears in the woods) presumably sometime after he was changed, and Rosalie's sometime after the Great Depression/WWII. Rosalie most likely didn't take the news well.

I love this picture so much! It gives me chills
how much they look like their characters.

8. Pollyanna- Goes to live with her mean Aunt Polly and changes the whole town into positivity, making it Glad Town.

I wonder what glad games this town likes to play?
9. Annie- Maybe one of the most famous orphans. Lives in an orphanage during the country's Great Depression with a cruel lady, Ms. Hannigan, but eventually gets adopted by Mr. Warbucks, the billionaire. Also has a cute dog named Sandy and likes to sing. The sun will come out tommorowww!

I'm poor as a mouse!; I'm richer than Midas!

10. The Blaundiares- Have you read their life stories? It's a series after series of unfortunate events. Poor orphans tormented by their uncle Count Olaf who is after their fortune. He tries to marry Violet and has multiple murder plots to get rid of them Fortunately, none of them have worked, but they have kept the Blaundiares on the run. Who knows where they're off to now.

Don't worry Sunny, maybe in
the next book.
11. Harry Potter- C'MON! Who wouldn't want to got to Hogwarts and be a WIZARD! And be famous in some other land. Probably one of the luckiest orphans out there.

I play Quidditch too!
12. Pippi Longstockings- The fun little girl who goes on adventures and wears her hair in braids.

Hi there! Want some coins?
 13. Huckaberry Finn and Tom Sawyer- Friend of Tom Sawyer who have adventures down the Mississippi River.

Look at this Tom!

14. Madeline- Who wouldn't want to live in a house of vines in Paris?

Miss Calvelle, can we please see the
tiger in the zoo!?!!

Hunger Games Casting

The boys for the Hunger Games are cast. The fans are outraged. Everyone and their mother wanted Hunter Parrish for Peeta. Personally, I'm also in rage of these picks because for one Peeta does not have blond eyelashes! I love this description in the books and personally I think a blond eye lashed Peeta would look more innocent and naive in his closeups. Peeta's supposed to have a softness quality to him, especially in contrast to Gale. Sorry Josh Hutcherson, but you are not a natural blond.
I'm going to to be Peeta

And Liam Hensworth, ugh. Not only does he not look like Gale, he's already sort of famous. Couldn't lionsgate cast more of an unknown? Besides he's already too attached to Disney, dating Miley Cyrus and all.

I'm Gale
Just no. It seems like they picked these actors because of their hotness and easier to appeal to an audience. Have you seen the muscles on both these boys? District 12 is supposed to be scrawny and underfed! They're starved people working in the mines and such all day, hunting for their own food. These muscles definitely don't say that. It's like lionsgate casted these people purely on sexual attraction. Also, I hope that the script isn't going to make Gale's part bigger than it's supposed to be in this movie, because really, Gale's barely in the books aside from the begninning. The whole movie should really focus on Katniss preparing and fighting for her life in the arena.

The Trio!
I like my picks a lot better. Also, I think the main cast looks too old. In no way is this movie going to look like kids killing kids. It's going to be more like young adults killing young adults. Well way to go folks. Let's see how you screw up the rest of the casting decisions.

Hunger Games Dream Casting!

Since the Hunger Games are being cast right now, I thought I'd do a dream casting! These are my picks:

The whole cast!!!

Katniss: Kaya Scodelario

Look at my pretty earrings!

May know her from: Skins and she's about the right age. The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that she'd make a perfect Katniss. She's also one of the fan favorites.
Peeta: Hunter Parrish

Yeah, I'm pretty

May know him from: Weeds. He's such a pretty boy! And he looks so much like Peeta is described in the books.  Most importantly, he has BLOND EYELASHES. It makes him seem younger and more like an innocent soul. Alex Pettyfer has dark eyelashes!! ... and Alex Pettyfer is in too many teen series already... Alex Rider, The Mortal Instruments, I am Number Four.... is he trying to create a monopoly?
Gale: Avan Jogia
Want to go to the Hob and trade for that Rabbit?

May know him from: Victorious. Avan looks alot like how I pictured Gale. He fits the book description too. I think he could pull it off. What do you think?

Prim: Morgan Saylor
Let's go down to the bakery and look at the cakes!
May know her from: The Sopranos. I think she'd be great for the part. Prim's biggest role is in Mockingjay anyway. I know Elle Fanning is the fan favorite for this part, but I think she's muchhhh to old. Have you seen recent photos? She's tall as Dakota. Besides, the Fannings are too well known.

Rue: Madison Pettis

I'm super fast, you'll have to catch me first!

May know her from: Cory in the House, Game Plan. I know a lot of people are against this pick because she's from Disney. But I think she's perfect. She's the right age and she looks young and I can see her climbing trees and following Katniss around the arena. She looks alot like how I pictured Rue too.
Haymitch: Jack Black

*Stumbles on Stage*
May know him from: School of Rock. I know alot of people don't like Jack Black for this pick, but I think he'd do great as Haymitch!  Haymitch isn't exactly supposed to be likeable anyways. Being a participant in the Hunger Games would drive anyone to their lowest depths.
Mrs. Everdeen: Naomi Watts
Mrs. Everdeen!

May know her from: Eastern Promises. I really don't know all that much about her, but I have seen her name mentioned alot and think she could work.
Effie: Kristin Chenoweth

Welcome to the Hunger Games! May the odds ever be in your favor!

May know her from: Wicked. I think Kristin Chenoweth would be perfect for this role! She has the right persona. And I could totally see her in wacky color wigs.
Cinna: Adam Lambert

Let's make you a mockingjay!
By the way you don't mind being set on fire, do you?
You may know him from: American Idol. I don't think Adam Lambert acts, but he totally should for this role. He's already looks the part. Besides, I really want to see him in gold eyeliner.
President Snow: Malcolm McDowell

I like roses

May know him from: A Clockwork Orange. I think President Snow should be someone older and slightly crazy. I think McDowell could do well.
Caesar: Anthony Hopkins

What's your strategy for the Hunger Games?

May know him from: Dracula, Silence of the Lambs. I also think Caesar should be someone older, but timeless..... thus Anthony Hopkins! He'd be great, plus I can imagine him in the red or blue hair getup taking on the talk host persona.

So what do you think!??

Have any suggestions?? Don't hesitate to spill!
